Import/Export data and ODBC
Exporting
All data in Antares is exportable to Microsoft Office. This includes all the customer files, the quotes index, the jobs files, the stock files and your orders and invoice daybooks. (These are just the principal files; all other files are exportable too).
All this data can then be accessed using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access.
In addition, it is vitally important to note that all data, once entered into Antares is preserved permanently.
This means that you have the ability, therefore, to analyse all this data in whatever way you wish. For example, you might want to look at a particular customer and total the volume or value of work on a quarterly basis over the last five years, perhaps also split by type of job ordered. Using Microsoft Access, you could easily achieve this.
This means that you are not restricted by the reports provided by Antares. If you want more reports or if you want your reports presented in a different way you have the power to do this at will.
ODBC
If you want to have your customised reports available “on-demand”, you can interact directly with the Antares data files using a set of optional ODBC drivers. These eliminate the need to work on copies of the actual data files.
Importing
Antares comes as standard with facilities to import customers, paper prices and so-on from files in either CSV or dBase format.
This will allow you to copy your customer list from (for example) Sage line 50, which will save a great amount of typing when starting with Antares.
In addition, you can use the import facilities to import paper prices (when there is a general paper price increase) from most merchants. These include Antalis, Robert Horne, McNaughtons, Howard Smith, EBBS and many others.
